The Literature Fair

Share your favorite book with the world! 

​

Book lovers of all ages are invited to create a project showcasing what makes their favorite book so great!

The Library will supply everything you need (within reason) to create an eye-catching display!  You will be given time to work on the project on Thursday afternoons from 1:00-2:00, or other times by arrangement. 

Or, you can work on the projects at home!

 

All projects must be completed by July 7, and will be taken to the Lewis County Fair to be displayed in the Commercial Building at the Canton Public Library table.

 

A first, second, and third place ribbon will be given to three of the projects, as chosen by Celebrity Judge, Alissa Burger, PhD, Associate Professor of English at Culver-Stockton College. 

Criteria will be based on the following:

Projects should include:

  • Title

  • Author

  • Publisher and Publication Date

  • A list/description of main characters

  • Description of setting

  • A brief summary of the plot (if fiction), or a brief summary of the book (if non-fiction)

  • What you like about the book!  What makes it your favorite?

  • One or more creative elements

    • Drawings and Paintings

    • Sculptures

    • Props 

    • Dioramas

    • Other artistic or fun elements

  • Feel free to add anything else that will help your display stand out!

The library will provide:

  • Display Boards

  • Paints

  • Colored pencils, marker, crayons, etc.

  • Modeling Clay

  • Paper

  • Cardstock

  • Cardboard

  • Glue

  • Assorted Craft Supplies

    • Glitter​

    • Feathers

    • Beads

    • Googly Eyes

    • Pipe Cleaners

    • etc.

  • Access to library printer and copier

  • Unsolicited Advice

  • Assistance
