Library cards are $20/year if you live outside city limits
How old do you have to be to get a card? Anyone of any age can get a card, but you must be at least 18 to get a card without a parent or guardian present.
How many items can I check out? You can check out 15 items at a time. Up to 5 of those can be DVDs.
How long can I keep them? Books check out for 3 weeks. DVDs and STEAM-to-Go! Kits check out for 1 week. You may request one renewal.

I live in the county and pay a library tax. Why do I still have to pay for a card? The county library tax is for libraries in Lewistown and La Grange where you can get a card for free. Only those in the city limits of Canton support the Canton Public Library with their tax dollars.
What do you have besides books? DVDs, Blu-Rays, CDs, STEAM-to-Go! Kits, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, eBooks and eAudiobooks.
What else can I do there besides get books? Use the wifi or the public computers, read a magazine or newspaper, color a picture, send a fax, print or make copies in color or black/white, talk (quietly) with your friends, play a game
Do I need a library card to use the computer or wifi? No, but you do need to sign an Internet Usage Agreement before you use a computer for the first time.
What if you don’t have a book I want? We can probably find it at another library in Missouri and have it sent here. Just ask!
At what age can a child be at the library unattended? Children must be at least 9 years old to be in the library unattended. Younger children must be accompanied by someone 16 or older.
Do you accept donations of used books? Yes. Books must be in good condition. No encyclopedias or textbooks. If we do not add the books to our collection of circulating materials, we will put them on our donation table table. Please call ahead if you have any questions.
